Analysis tools
We work with modern, advanced analysis methods and tools to understand user behavior on our website. This information helps us to continuously develop our offerings and provide targeted, relevant services and information. As a matter of principle, we only use data that is anonymized and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the identity of users. In the following, we present the analysis services and technologies that we use for such purposes. We also show you how you can prevent these services from evaluating your usage behavior on our website. Our website uses tools and functions from other providers that are used to collect and statistically process data on the use of the website by users. These findings allow us to offer users of other services on the Internet (such as Google or Facebook) targeted, relevant information and advertising. These include Universal Analytics, AdWords and Click / DoubleClick Floodlight as well as Dynamic Remarketing from Google, Facebook Custom Audiences and Facebook Connect, Twitter Advertising, Optimizely and Mailchimp. These services use cookies, tags and tracking pixels for the respective purposes. Cookies are small pieces of code loaded onto the user's device that enable, for example, identification, user settings on a website, session management or log-in. They also allow the recording and evaluation of the user's visits and interactions in various web services and the transmission of this data to the web server. Tags are short code modules that are integrated into websites and mobile applications to report to a server whether a user has performed a certain action (e.g. clicked on a button). Pixel tags (or web beacons) are tiny image files that are embedded in websites or emails and allow conclusions to be drawn about their access.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is an analysis tool that statistically processes data about the use of our website by users. It sends information about page views and steps taken by users (e.g. the duration, sequence and URL of visits and page views, the page from which the user came, as well as information about the device, operating system, browser and settings used and the approximate location) to Google's servers. It uses cookies and similar means, e.g. so-called tracking pixels, to recognize users and to be able to assign different steps and visits to them across different devices and sessions; this by means of anonymous features, such as random identification numbers. No personal data is transmitted to Google; IP addresses, which are used for geographical allocation, are "masked" in advance (shortened by certain digits). Google explains further details in its data protection documentation. You can deactivate Google Analytics for your browser using an add-on.

Facebook Custom Audiences
Facebook Custom Audiences enables us to compile groups and lists of users from existing data records (e.g. our newsletter subscribers) according to certain criteria in order to be able to offer them information and advertising on Facebook services that is tailored to their interests and preferences. Before being transmitted to Facebook, this data is irreversibly encrypted on our computers into so-called hash values (encrypted numerical values), which Facebook uses to compare it with its user base. You can reject this form of advertising by changing your browser settings, which you can do on the Digital Advertising Alliance selection page.

Facebook ConnectFacebook Connect is a Facebook function that allows Facebook users to log in to other websites, apps and services using their Facebook identity. In doing so, this other service receives access to certain preferences and social and links stored in Facebook, on which it can base its own offers. This follows the user's settings in Facebook. Further details can be found Facebook's explanations. Facebook can use data about users' steps on such other services to recognize visitors to our website on its services in order to be able to offer advertisements based on the user's interests and preferences.
